anyway, the let’s fail video they put up was pretty hilarious, i decided to draw them in GTA style. it’s not perfect, but it’s the best i can do.

Or; Star Trek Into My Nether Regions: This movie pleased me greatly but I also had some points, basically I want to talk about this so here’s a post.

spoilers of all kinds after the gif + cut

I’m super glad that JJ Abrams isn’t writing the scripts and it’s Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof - I love them as writers and they know what they’re doing with this franchise.

I did see quite a bit of Orci’s influence in this script. If you follow his twitter he posts a lot about unmanned drones and conspiracies and what-have-you; I’m not surprised he got into Ender’s Game - that plot is full of the government lying to the public. (fooling kids and taking away their childhood, love me an evil authority figure)

Hell, his most recent tweet at the point of writing this was that the White House got a copy of ID and he hoped they pay attention.

Anyway, it was very relevant to current situations and I liked it, altho it made me chuckle throughout.

Casting was perfection to the extreme; I would’ve loved if they had gotten Trevor Eve to play Marcus, because he’s Alice Eve’s real dad, but I love Peter Weller and have done so since I was at least 8 (true story) - him playing cruel and consciousless gives me the shivers, much better than when I saw him in Fringe (oh hey that’s how they must’ve gotten him)

I loved Alice Eve, love her as Carol Marcus - makes sense that they cwould have her in this because of

KHAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNN omg I had fallen asleep during WoK the night before so apparently it was fate or something? I loved the parallels reflecting that the timeline has changed, with Kirk and Spock changing places and yeah

let’s get to Khan now shall we. I’ve been seeing that John Cho clip from the press tour floating around for a while now, when they ask him who his favourite villain is and he remarks Khan is also a man of color. I haven’t seen the actual clip, just the gifs, but I feel like he was trying to make a point - which is that Star Trek has always set out to be diverse (I mean Gene Roddenberry was sleeping with Nichelle Nichols but that’s just part of the fun)

Altho now that I think about it, the stereotypical terrorist is a brown man with a turban, and making it someone so white he probably glows in the dark was their way of saying “look anyone can cause terror, even three hundred year old cruel white people” because SO MANY WHITE PROBLEMS okay ignore that first paragraph about Khan I’ve changed my mind

~~Bonefish Currantsnatch~~ Benedict Cumberbatch was fantastic omg I love when he gets cruel and those scenes in the cell were perfect and his fury - Khan is the pure villain in the end and he really does pull that off

Killing off Pike was a natural thing to do - to bridge that gap between the volcano and the vulcan (ahahahaha puns) and bringing Spock to where he needed to be - it just sucked because I loved him so much (SHERLOCK KILLED BATMAN) and he was Kirk’s father, much more than Greg Grunberg’s disembodied voice ever was. WHEN HE CALLED HIM JAMES IN THE MEETING I thought I was going to die

love that they’re keeping James Doohan’s son as the transport officer - such a great way to honor his memory

SURPRISE SPOCK PRIME loved it - should’ve expected it but I didn’t and I’m glad

REVEAL OF THE KLINGONS YES PERFECT also I loved the actor they had, he was the really hot perfect guy that Angela accidentally married on Bones

DAT TRIBBLE - I didn’t figure it out until Kirk was dying, the boy saw it right away - but I figured out that Miranda Tate was Talia al’Ghul pretty early on and he didn’t so I win; also they better put that Tribble back into the grave or the Enterprise will once again be having trouble

CHEKOV PUTTING ON THE RED SHIRT so many fears for his safety, tho I’m pretty sure the two redshirts that went down to Kronos with the trio ended up dead, poor Cupcake
